MAHAPANCHAYAT- MODEL UNITED NATIONS PROGRAMME

MAHAPANCHAYAT- MODEL UNITED NATIONS PROGRAMME Evergreen Public School Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi in association with Unnati, the knowledge hub for civil aspirants, organised Mahapanchayat a two day, Model United Nations programme in school on 27th & 28th July 2019. Around 450 student delegates from Delhi/NCR debated and discussed on various topics ranging from sustainable development goals 2030 with a special emphasis on climate change. The other agendas of the Mahapanchayat included reconsideration of International Trade Agreement by the U N General Assembly, conflict between India and Pakistan since partition, highlighting the Pulwama attack, deliberation on global mythologies and scriptures by United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, representation of women globally on a political platform and the role of international press amongst others. Mr. Varun Rajpal, advocate, Delhi High Court was the Chief Guest of the Opening Ceremony. School Principal Priyanka Gulati and students of Primary School welcomed His Excellency Mr. Rabie Narsh, Ambassador of the Republic of Lebanon to the Republic of India and Chief Guest of the Valedictory Ceremony and Guest-of-Honour, Mr. Naveen Sharma President, International Society for Cooperation and Development. H.E. gave away the prizes for the Best Delegate and the Best Speaker of the different committees. It was a proud moment for the school when M.S. Aishwarya, Head Girl of the school and Tania Singh Vice Head Girl were declared the Best Delegate and the Best Speaker respectively. The event concluded on a high note as the young delegates went back enriched and as more empowered citizens ready to face the global challenges head on.
